Sea Silk Shetland Triangle...

Here it is in (almost) all of it's glory---

I'm aware that it looks less than impressive when in its unblocked.

Believe it or not, this was my first time knitting lace that was not on a sock. The main thing that had kept me from lace shawls, etc. was that I thought they'd take forever to do. Man, was I wrong. I started this one on Saturday afternoon. It helped that we watched a couple of movies on Saturday night (The Good German & Hostel). Oh my God, don't watch Hostel, it's so gross and full of gore.

So, the Sea Silk is from Handmaiden, and I've had it in my stash for almost a year. It's funny --- I tried to do this shawl when I first got this yarn, but I screwed something up in the beginning, and gave up.

Don't you find it interesting how much you learn passively? It's not like I practiced this pattern. Something just clicked this time.

I've done the 8 body repeats that the pattern calls for, but I still have a ton of yarn left, so I'm thinking about doing at least one more repeat (possibly/likely two).

I'm making this for my most grateful recipient of hand knit goods (if I don't decide to take it over).

I'm optimistically thinking I'll be able to get it finished tonight. Who knows, maybe if I just park myself in front of the TV I'll be able to do it.

I'll be posting again soon so I can tell you all about my Waving Lace sock, and another sock I've got on the go.

Wow, it looks wonderful! Is the sea silk as luscious as everyone says?

The shawl looks beautiful! I haven't used sea silk, but I do have some schaeffer silk for a shawl in the stash. I wonder how it will block out? Did you finish the shawl in a weekend? If so - wow!

It's looking great! I have some sundara yarn waiting to be knit up into a shetland triangle....maybe I need to go and start that. :)

Oooohh, it looks so pretty . . . and it isn't even blocked yet!! I'm doing the Kiri Shawl now and found the same thing. It's my first lace, and the first time I tried it I messed up terribly and couldn't do it. This time, it all clicked and seemed almost easy.

Wow, that was quick...and it's impressive even in it's unblocked state. I'm not the greatest lace knitter so I'm super impressed at anyone who can make sometime so pretty.

You can learn alot from lace and it usualy teaches you to own your own knitting ;-)

Can't wait to see how it turns out once you block it!
